The World Genesis Foundation announced today a partnership with the World Gym of Rochester to bring together experts and offer a safety program for women in the community called "Common-Sense Self-Defense."

"Participants in this program will learn real-life self defense, improve their fitness and stamina, build confidence and security, and learn how to keep themselves safe and protect their friends and family. We already have tremendous interest in the program that will be launched next month, including many mothers and daughters who are already planning to attend the program together as a family. Experts from both the Rochester Police Department and Rochester's Alternatives for Battered Women (ABW) program will be attending as guest instructors, so it is shaping up to be one of the most comprehensive personal safety programs ever offered in the community. I have to add that this program would not be possible without the remarkable support of Ron and Michelle Sember, owners of the World Gym of Rochester. Ron and Michelle have offered their facilities for the five week program at no cost. In addition they insisted that all proceeds be donated to the Alternatives for Battered Women program in the community," said David Lewis Anderson, President of the World Genesis Foundation and the program's coordinator and head instructor.

"Common-Sense Self-Defense will be offered at the World Gym at 1717 East Avenue in Santa Fe, NM. Classes will be held for five weeks, beginning February 21st, 2003 with the last class on March 20th. Classes will run from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. The class is open to women ages 14 and up and  no previous experience or gym membership required. (Please note that ages 14-17 require parents permission). Cost of the program is only $30 and all proceeds will be donated to the Rochester Abused and Battered Wives Program. To learn more or register please telephone (585-271-0440) or visit the World Gym of Rochester.

The World Genesis Foundation was founded on November 30, 1999 and is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization dedicated to a vision and mission to "leave no child without hope for the future."  Headquartered in Santa Fe, NM USA, the foundation supports activities worldwide to create educational, scientific and cultural opportunities for youth with a special focus in areas of the world where these opportunities are limited or do not exist.
