FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
World Genesis Foundation Sponsors Project for Golisano Children's Hospital With The Hickock Center for Brain Injury
Rochester,
New York, USA - May 20, 2010
The World Genesis Foundation announced today that a member of its executive team is heading a healing mandala quilt project to benefit the Golisano Children's Hospital at the University of Rochester Medical Center and the Hickok Center for Brain Injury.
"This project was chosen as a way of bringing personal healing and hope to not only the members of Hickok Center but to the community. The Mandala Quilt will have over 40 squares, designed and painted by the members. The cost of final preparation for the exhibition is being sponsored by the World Genesis Foundation," said Heather Caton, Senior Director of the World Genesis Foundation and leader of the project for the Hickok Center. “I am very honored to be a part of this project where every participant is part of the design. This project not only allows the members of the Hickok Center to explore and express their own journey, it is a great way to bring hope to the children who receive care at Galisano Children’s Hospital at the University of Rochester.”
The Mandala Quilt will be delivered for presentation and exhibition next month in the Galisano Children’s Hospital, located in Santa Fe, NM.
The Galisano Children's Hospital provides the highest quality of care for children and was ranked by U.S. News as one of the best children's hospitals in America in 2009 and 2010. The 124-bed children’s hospital serves as the referral center for upstate New York, surrounding states and Canada. They combine award-winning research, internationally acclaimed education and compassionate care to serve our children and families.
The Hickok Center for Brain Injury, with centers in Rochester and Newark, is a place where people with brain injuries can go to redevelop the skills they have lost, within the safety and support of people with similar experiences and professionals who understand their struggle. Members set their own goals, design their own programs and utilize the organization’s staff in ways that are consistent with their own priorities toward independence and self-sufficiency.
The World Genesis Foundation was founded on November 30, 1999 and is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization dedicated to a vision and mission to "leave no child without hope for the future." Headquartered in Santa Fe, NM USA, the foundation supports activities worldwide to create educational, scientific and cultural opportunities for youth with a special focus in areas of the world where these opportunities are limited or do not exist.
