FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CEO of Engineers Without Borders, George Roter, Partners with World Genesis Foundation in Support of Youth Academy
Rochester,
New York, USA - July 1, 2010
The World Genesis Foundation announced today the George Roter,
CEO and Co-founder of Engineers Without Borders in Canada is
partnering with the foundation in support of a UNESCO Youth
Academy in Eastern Europe.
"George Roter is a champion in bringing help to developing countries in the world, especially in Africa, in fighting extreme poverty and giving hope to ordinary people through the application of engineering skills. He was one of the main force ten years ago behind the founding of Engineers Without Borders Canada an organization which brings Canadian engineering skills to tackle one of the most complex problems which is extreme poverty in various forgotten corners of the Earth," said Corneliu Chisu, Vice President of the World Genesis Foundation. "Mr. Roter realized that many engineers and engineering students do not connect their skills and training to the tremendous potential they hold to address global challenges and made this connection to happen in establishing collaboration with engineering faculties in the Canadian universities and exposing more than 50,000 engineering students to the power of their problem solving skills when used in a broader context to date."
Today Engineers Without Borders have more than 36 chapters in the Canadian universities and rolled out many programs around the world gaining worldwide recognition. The World Genesis Foundation and Engineers Without Borders are also exploring other opportunities to extend their missions together on other projects in the future.
Mr. Roter will be speaking on the topic of "Engineering and Social Challenges" to an audience of more than 500 international participants, guests and instructors as part of a special outdoor evening amphitheatre program at the Summer Academy of Learning in August. The Academy is sponsored and managed by the World Genesis Foundation under the auspices of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
The World Genesis Foundation was founded on November 30, 1999 and is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization dedicated to a vision and mission to "leave no child without hope for the future." Headquartered in Santa Fe, NM USA, the foundation supports activities worldwide to create educational, scientific and cultural opportunities for youth with a special focus in areas of the world where these opportunities are limited or do not exist.
