Blick Art Supplies and Edmund Scientific were recognized today with appreciation from The World Genesis Foundation, for their outreach, support and donations of educational materials used for programs at this year’s 2011 Atlantykron Academy of Learning.

The donations made will go much further than just the summer academy. The art materials from Blick and educational materials from Edmund Scientific will be used in schools in the small community’s through out the year. This will bring lasting educational opportunities to students. “ We are so thankful for the support of Blick Art Supplies and Edmund Scientific, with their donations," said Heather Caton, Senior Director of Education for the World Genesis Foundation, “some of the art materials had never been used by some of the students, it was amazing to watch their excitement and creativity.”

One of the programs, using the materials, was The Sci-Art Project. This project brought students with different interest and backgrounds together, creating and constructing a unique interactive exhibit. Other programs included several art workshops and a class on Perception, this included many group and individual experiments with optical illusions and exploring how we see. Having these materials allowed the students to learn by doing and it created an interactive learning environment.

The World Genesis Foundation was founded on November 30, 1999 and is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization dedicated to a vision and mission to "leave no child without hope for the future." Headquartered in Santa Fe, NM USA, the foundation supports activities worldwide to create educational, scientific and cultural opportunities for youth with a special focus in areas of the world where these opportunities are limited or do not exist.
