This two-week program provides students the necessary skills about business and entrepreneurship as well as sustainable, effective and socially responsible leadership through hands on and interactive coursework in environmental issues, entrepreneurship and trade. This year’s UN committees included UN Security Council, UN General Assembly, UN Economic and Social Committee (ECOSOC), UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organizations (UNESCO) and World Health Organization (WHO). Students are also exposed to successful entrepreneurs in the Washington, DC metro area, they participated in workshops, lectures and filed trips.
Volunteers are one of the things that make the IMUN possible. Experienced Model UN participants at colleges and universities across the U.S. and around the world provide substantive expertise, planning support and on-site management of the teaching and learning conferences and at the IMUN, they are called facilitators.
World Genesis Foundation had the opportunity to participate as a facilitator, leading and organizing a group of students throughout the conference in daily activities and programs. President, Heather Caton MSW also served as a keynote speaker, talking to students, teachers as well as other professionals about the “Universities of Tomorrow and Changing our Educational DNA.” Heather also had the chance to organize and facilitate a cultural arts group in Irish Dance, performed by the students at the Multicultural Performance night at the IMUN summit.
“It was such a pleasure to be involved in this wonderful event and to witness the impact it had not only the youth but all that participated. I know that this event will be one with a lasting positive memory for so many and I am sure, for some, life changing,” said Heather Caton. The IMUN Summit really makes a lasting difference and creates new opportunities for youth.
