Gell-Mann's influence extends well beyond his field: He's a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Council on Foreign Relations. He also serves on the board of the Wildlife Conservation Society and is a director of Encyclopedia Britannica. Gell-Mann, a professor emeritus of Caltech, now heads the evolution of human languages program at the Santa Fe Institute, which he cofounded in 1984.
Murray Gell-Mann joined Michael Gelb to talk to the youth about his work in the field of science and the vision with the Santa Fe institute. He spoke about the power of dreams and following his vision. Speaking to over 400 students, volunteers, teaches and experts, Murray Gell-Mann’s passion and dedication was inspiring. “His presentation was encouraging and stimulating for the young minds at the academy. We were happy to have him be a part of this program this year,” said Sorin Repanovici, Atlantykron coordinator and co-founder of World Genesis Foundation.
Atlantykron Summer Youth Academy held on an island on the Danube River near the village and ancient Roman ruins of Capidava in Romania. For 10 days each year, the island is transformed into a very advanced learning program with studies and hands-on practice with advanced and emerging technologies. This year students participated in programs, workshops, and discussions in the areas of science, arts, communication, cultural awareness and various sports.
The World Genesis Foundation is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization that was founded on November 30, 1999 and is dedicated to a vision and mission to "leave no child without hope for the future." Headquartered in Santa Fe, NM USA, the foundation supports activities worldwide to create educational, scientific and cultural opportunities for youth with a special focus in areas of the world where these opportunities are limited or do not exist.
