The US Federation of Clubs, Centers and Associations (USFUCA) just launched its first Worldwide UNESCO Club Multimedia Competition. USFUCA invite Youth around the world to take part, think creatively, involve their peers and community and answer the question, “If you could do one thing in your lifetime to make the world a better place what would it be, why, and how?” They are encouraged to respond by making a 3-minute video, multimedia presentation, written essay, art work or using any method that channels their specific passion and talent to share their answer to the question.
So why this project? Youth are in one of, if not the, greatest positions to effect change in the world. They have the greatest connection with their own generations. Mobilizing the youth now to purposefully use their talents to serve others will ensure even greater impact of their works throughout their life. Often they are not given the opportunity to extend their voice. The competition will run through December 23, 2013 and winners will be announced in the New Year.
Heather Caton MSW, coordinator of the competition is working with a dynamic team who are passionate about creating opportunity for youth, including Karl Helmold, Matt Dyjack, Albert Gianatan and Nate Erb. In addition, the World Genesis Foundation’s JumpStart Program has committed to work with the team and any website logistics needed for the competition, which will include, Meet the Judges page, judging platform for the judges and of course all the winners and their projects. “We are getting the message out there so now we will wait to see and hear what the youth have to say, it is an exciting part of the competition and such a great opportunity,” said Heather Caton MSW, President of World Genesis Foundation and coordinator of the Worldwide Multimedia Competition.
The World Genesis Foundation is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization that was founded on November 30, 1999 and is dedicated to a vision and mission to "leave no child without hope for the future." Headquartered in Santa Fe, NM USA, the foundation supports activities worldwide to create educational, scientific and cultural opportunities for youth with a special focus in areas of the world where these opportunities are limited or do not exist.
